Collaborative program

One of the main task of Openwear is to create a series of capsule fashion collections of clothing and accessories which will promote sustainability as social and economical way of thinking, knowledge sharing, peer to peer production and collaboration. A Collaborative Collection consists of individual pieces of clothing and fashion accessories that are designed in a way that allow to be customized (short term) and upgraded (long term) in the next processes of use or production by community members.

Each collection consists of a limited number of pieces created by a group of fashion designers/makers/artists and its code can be downloaded by every member of the Openwear Community, produced, labeled with the Openwear open source logo, and sold online and offline. Here's how you can participate to the Collaborative Program and become an active participant of Openwear Community:

Open a Showbox
An account on Openwear is called a Showbox - a new word that mixes Showroom/Showcase/Toolbox. A Showbox is your starting point for being an active participant on Openwear, find collaborators, promote your activity and network with your peers.

Download Lookmaps
Lookmaps are multimedia objects that helps you produce each garment of the Collaborative Collection . Discover how the first Collection Foward to Basics was created and meet the Creators.

Produce items of the Collection
You are free to produce the items following the instructions contained in the Lookmaps.

Customize items of the Collection
You are free to produce the items changing the basic codes contained in the Lookmaps.

Upload item pics in your galleries
Take a nice picture of the item or customization you produced and share it in your galleries. It will be inserted in the search engine of the community and new customers would easily find out that you're one of the producers and get in touch with you if they are interested in purchasing.

Participate to online and offline discussions
You are invited to share your best practices and knowledge through our wiki and forum. The Collaborative Collections are excuse to open up conversations on sustainable fashion, reflect on practices, share creative processes, confront methodologies, question fundamentals of fashion and challenge our personalities. But also to find affinities and join forces, discover opportunities to break current thinking patterns. Openwear will organize online events on different topics, check the Calendar to participate. The more you are active in the community and feedback the work of others, the more your Value rank will grow.

Organize workshops and meet up in your area
We all know that meeting online it's not enough. We love knowing new people and share time together. Expecially if you are a Local Hub or and Educational Institution, Openwear Collaborative Program is a chance to involve your audience in an activity or debate offline and increase your visibility sharing the results online.

Promote and sell items online offline
You are free to use the Utilites to promote your activity on Openwear and sell Collaborative Collection items and your personal collections online and offline using Openwear open source logo: spend some time to read the License Agreement and Guidelines.
